Paknet

For critical situations where the GPRS network with its “best endeavours” approach isn’t good enough. There is a ‘Gold’ Service from Paknet using a complete separate and robust RF Network that covers the country. This also requires a special transceiver in place of the more normal GSM/GPRS modem, called a PAD. These PADs can be BluetoothTM enabled for greater flexibility in collecting data from a local network.

Location Services

Vodafone "enhanced cell ID" location data is up to 70% more accurate than standard mobile cell ID.

• Vodafone is the only UK network to offer enhanced cell ID.
• Enhanced cell ID is available on ALL GSM and GPRS Vodafone handsets & devices.
• Vodafone also offers Assisted GPS. In many applications AGPS offers several benefits over conventional GPS.
• Significantly faster location fixes, particularly from cold start.
• Lower power requirements and improved battery life.
• No requirement for a separate data channel to be open (eg by GPRS).
