Virtual Private Network
Mobius has invested heavily in the infrastructure to provide its customers with our own Virtual Private Network (VPN). By not subcontracting to a third party, it provides our customers with more detailed control and greater security than Virtual Operators.
Fixed IP address
Normally a fixed IP address on the Internet opens your remote unit to attack by virus or deliberate and hostile hacking. Less serious but just as annoying is Spam that you have to pay to collect. By using our VPN you can give each remote unit its own IP address since, in the safety of a closed system there will be no external access.
On demand remote access
Existing GSM systems rely on the remote unit dialling in to make contact either at prearranged times or after a prompt from some local stimulus. Some systems rely on sending an SMS message to the remote unit so that it then dials in. With a VPN and GPRS you have a live, always on, link from the unit to the back office. Instant, secure access for free. You only pay for the data transmitted.
Peer to Peer communication
Using the Mobius VPN it is possible to communicate directly from one remote unit to another without recourse back to a main office. This can be particularly important in the security and telematics market and makes the product truly ‘machine to machine’.
