Broadband speed, mobile flexibility

In the last year a near silent revolution has been rolling out across the UK bringing Broadband speeds to the mobile world called High-Speed Downlink Packet Access or HSDPA. Vodafone was the first operator to launch HSDPA, providing data rates of up to 1.8Mbps.
But it is an arguable point that in the the majority of Machine to Machine (M2M) or Data applications are in the process of switching over from GSM to GPRS. This increases the data pipe from around 9k6bps to 36kbps (56kbps or higher is often claimed). 3G brings the prospect of 384kBPs but adoption by the data industry has been slow- partly due to network pricing issues and partly due to the lack of non-consumer hardware. Have these issues been addressed?
Mobius customers are already accessing data services at speeds that are up to 32 times the speed of normal dial up and up to 4 times the speed of 3G. Vodafone’s 3G broadband coverage is expanding every week and will cover all 3G areas by end of March 2007. 3G coverage continues to grow and Vodafone will fully meet the license commitment to have 80% population coverage by end 2007.
The hardware issue has been answered by Sarian, Huawei and others, usually producing units capable of switching seamlessly between HSDPA/3G and GPRS as conditions demand. Similarly Mobius has the infrastructure to collect and deliver data across all three technologies. This can be through a Secure Private Network with a unique fixed IP, irrespective of the over air method of transmission.
With Vodafone’s new 3G broadband service available in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain, Mobius customers can collect and deliver data around the world like never before.
And the price? Not as much as you might of expected. Mobius Networks, pioneering with our Dynamic Data Allocation system, are out in front again with a range of packages for Gig and Super Gig tariffs that can deliver, what is in our opinion, the best network for less.
