‘Service not available’Released at:08:00 05/12/2005
Normally anyone putting a GSM/GPRS engine in an installation tries to bury the SIM in as inaccessible part as possible. But there is always that worry in the back of the designers head. “What happens if they manage to get the SIM out?”. It is probably the single most consistent concern our customers raise with us when discussing their future plans. To most people a SIM is a SIM. If they manage to get their hands on one then, the perception is that they will be able to put it in their own phone and call up their friends for ‘free’. Businesses that are rolling out Machine to Machine (M2M) devices are worried that they are creating a blank cheque for the unauthorised user or the petty criminal. By working with Vodafone to create a true Data only SIM, Mobius customers will find that our SIMs will no longer carry voice in any form. The error messages do vary from phone to phone but the meaning is the same- “No voice using this SIM”. This is true of both ingoing and outgoing calls. Even better news is that does not impact its use in a GSM modem. The network is able to differentiate between Data GSM calls and Voice GSM calls. Add this to the fact that we ship all of our SIMs WAP and WEB enabled, coupled with our Dynamic Data Allocation system and our Fixed IP and the advantage that Mobius Networks brings becomes clear. This is not normally a message that a communications company would want its customers to hear. But for Mobius Networks customers we think it will be music to their ears.
