What's in a nameReliable multiple APNs now a realityReleased at: 16:00 23/07/2007 An APN (Access Point Name) identifies an external network that is accessible via a wireless router, for example ‘The Internet’.
Two APNs or more can be very useful as a means of directing data. In a recent example a Mobius customer lwas looking to roll out an Estate of Mobile Electronic Point of Sales terminals. The customer wanted a Private APN for payment through an EFT Provider, a Private Network with a different IP to provide secure and easy management of the estate and an open internet connection to lift lottery and news ticker tape information.
Mobius loaded the required APNs onto each SIM and the customer was able change the style of connection that was needed on the fly.
