HSUPA RolloutReleased at:11:00 24/09/2007 Downloads up to 14 times faster than standard 3G
Uploads up to 10 times faster than standard 3G
Consumer mobile has struggled to justify the speed of 3G. Data applications, sometimes called Machine to Machine (M2M), however have started to draw on these higher speeds. The main early adopters have been
CCTV
Digital Signage
Dual Media Robust Communications
To support this market in June 2006, Vodafone was the first UK operator to launch a HSDPA service, which provides data rates of up to 1.8Mbps – offering typical speeds of 0.8 – 1.3Mbps.
This allowed Mobius customers to download at speeds up to 4 times faster than 3G. The uplink of this new service was 384kbps which, while much faster than 3G, was still felt to be a limiting factor by Mobius customers.
From September 3rd 2007 those Mobius customers who wanted a faster service will benefit from the roll out of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). Throughout autumn Vodafone UK is upgrading its mobile broadband network to support download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps.
The rollout will initially be in central London and major airports and will offer typical speeds of 1.7Mbps to 5.5Mbps. This allows customers to download a 5MB file in around seven seconds, up to 14 times faster than standard 3G and upload speeds are also increasing up to 1.44Mbps, up to 10 times faster than 3G.
London districts include: E1, E1W, E14, EC1, EC2, EC3, EC4, NW1, SW1, W1, W2, W8, W9, W10, W11, W14, WC1, WC2

Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, London City, Southampton, Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester, Belfast City, Belfast International, Cardiff and Norwich.
With such over air speeds Mobius Networks ability to aggregate up to 100Mb per SIM and its heavy investment in backhaul becomes more important than ever. To find out how to take advantage of this technology, control costs and reduce information bottlenecks contact us on
