We have a vacancy for Head of Networks, Infrastructure & Security.
To lead the IT department for Mobius Networks, responsible for the network architecture, security, and availability of both the internal user network and IoT dual location network. This includes overall responsibility for the Department who are designing, implementing, and maintaining the internal network infrastructure and managing network engineers responsible for customer solutions and 3rd line troubleshooting.
Managing the IoT network includes the NOC, supported by our 24/7 helpdesk, carrying out continual improvements, and integrating with mobile network operators (MNOs). Supporting with more complex customer solutions and troubleshooting is also a key part of this role, as well as collaboration with technical teams in the wider group.
The role is vital to ensuring the critical reliability and security of the service that Mobius offers to customers.
Key Tasks
The individual must be able to problem solve using their own initiative, prioritise, learn fast and on occasions think on their feet. The key focus of the role is to maintain the highest levels of Security and Network Resilience that Mobius customers expect from us.
- Managing the Network and Infrastructure Team
- Managing and working on IT projects
- Incident Management
- Department and management reports
- A working understanding of VPN, Radius and APN design and setup
- A working understanding of Network and server maintenance
- Overall Network design authority for internal and customer solutions
- Ultimate responsibility for the security of the network
- Creation of processes and IT policy documentation
- Ensuring system documentation and training is maintained, including network diagrams
- Escalation point for Network and Infrastructure issues
- Managing the NOC and network monitoring, including availability for out of hours escalations
- Budgetary responsibility
Network and Infrastructure Team Responsibilities
- Monitoring and responding to Minor and Major Incidents
- Daily checks to ensure the network and systems are running efficiently
- 3rd Line support as escalated by Operations, IT and the helpdesk
- Find solutions to any IT issues arising
- Managing and implementing VPN, Radius and APN design and setup
- Managing and implementing Network and server maintenance
- Network design and implementation, internal and customer solutions
- Proactively maintaining the security of the network
- System documentation and training, including network diagrams
- Troubleshooting network and infrastructure problems
- Collaboration with Mobile Network Operators on network implementation
Core Technologies and Skills:
- Windows Server 2019/2022+
- Routing and Switching – strong experience with designing and configuring networks and protocols including OSPF, BGP and IPSec. A CCNA or CCNP certification is preferable.
- RADIUS – preferably experience with Steel Belted Radius, FreeRADIUS and/or nuRADIUS
- MSSQL (basic knowledge)
- Network Management and Monitoring
- Configuration of Cisco routers/switches/firewalls
- VPN setups (IPSec and SSL)
- Disaster Recovery planning & implementation
- Experience of security appliances (e.g. filtering, RSA and DLP)
Preferable Technologies:
An understanding of:
- Linux – Red Hat, Ubuntu
- Firewall knowledge – Cisco ASA, Firepower
- Backup systems – Veeam, Acronis
- Monitoring systems – PRTG, Grafana
- Virtualisation – Hyper-V/VMWare
- Managed Wi-Fi systems – Cisco Meraki
- Antivirus & EDR Systems – CrowdStrike, SentinelOne
- Web/E-mail filters – Forcepoint, Mimecast
- Data Leakage Prevention (DLP)
- Two factor authentication (RSA and Authenticator apps)
- PowerShell, Python (scripting)
- MS Office365
- Automation tools (Ansible, PDQ)
