Mobius have been a member of RTIG for nearly ten years and has seen its membership as a key part in our drive in improve standards of quality and service wherever M2M/IoT impacts the real world. It also provides a good platform to promote Network Standards and changes such as In Country Roaming, Machine to Machine and Network Friendly Mode.
RTIG was established in 2000 to provide a focus for all those involved in UK bus RTI. We now have a comprehensive remit to cover the effective and efficient use of technology in the interests of passenger transport users, operators and sponsors.
With members from municipal authorities, transport operators, consultancies and the systems industry, we have an impartial perspective and support the common good. RTIG have an excellent relationship with national Government and work closely with other community groups.
By developing standards for Digital Interfaces involving all of the key suppliers in the UK RTIG-Inform community RTIG was able de-risked the adoption of leading edge technology for Local Authorities and Passenger Transport Authorities. For example, through RTIG, UK Public Transport became an early adopter of Roaming SIMs in the first large scale roll outs back in 2011.
As a further support service for its Members RTIG-Inform has put a number of Framework contracts in place over the years. This allows the take up of products or services safe in the knowledge that an exhaustive purchasing process has already taken place on their behalf.
